Stress Test

An assessment of capital stability, which was conducted by U.S. federal banking supervisors in 2009 to see which banks could raise the capital necessary to begin paying back TARP loans. The goal was to determine whether the largest U.S. banking organizations had sufficient capital to withstand the impact of an economic environment more challenging than anticipated and whether they can respond effectively to various, adverse scenarios presented by simulation model.
